Veteran Inline Skater
Victor Callender is a cornerstone of New York City’s inline skating culture. His presence has shaped the scene from its early underground roots to its modern revival and his influence spans street culture, performance, competition, and grassroots organizing. Known for his fluid style, fearless street skating, and signature side-surfing ability, Victor built his reputation not only through personal talent but through his commitment to elevating the sport itself.
His talent and drive led him beyond the streets; he performed professionally, skating in the film Rollerball and touring with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Victor also created and served as the head coach of the groundbreaking inline skating program at Chelsea Piers NYC. He became one of the architects of modern NYC inline culture, a driving force behind the long-running Last Man Standing (LMS) competition, an open, energetic, and notoriously challenging event that brought pros, amateurs, and newcomers together at legendary skating locations. More recently, he has also partnered with major initiatives like Summer Streets to teach skating across New York City’s boroughs, helping many discover the joy and freedom of movement on wheels.
Over the years, Victor’s impact has stretched well beyond competitions and spotlight moments. As a performer, organizer, and constant advocate for the culture, he has helped generations of skaters find their footing, and their confidence, on wheels. Whether skating alongside emerging talent, teaching fundamentals to newcomers, or hosting sessions that unite dozens of skaters across generations, he’s remained a mentor and motivator at heart. Today, Victor continues to shape the future of the sport with a renewed dedication to education, mentorship, and community organizing, making skating more accessible and inspiring the next wave of NYC rollers. By founding Let’s Roll NYC, a community-focused organization, he has developed creative, educational programs that promote healthy lifestyles, bring the energy of the skating community directly to the public, and make inline skating accessible to people of all ages, one roll at a time.
